Chewy & Fudgy Butterscotch Squares
Ingredients
- Chewy & Fudgy Butterscotch Squares
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour measured correctly
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Butterscotch Flavored Morsels
Instructions
- Chewy & Fudgy Butterscotch Squares
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease or spray an 8x8 pan with non-stick cooking spray, or line with parchment paper for easy removal, after baked.
- Add the butter and sugar to a mixing bowl and cream together until creamy.
- Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
- Add flour, salt and baking powder and stir until combined.
- Fold in butterscotch chips, saving a few for the top.
- Spread into a greased square (8 or 9 inch) baking pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for at least 15-20 minutes before cutting into bars

Butterscotch Sauce
Ingredients
- For the Butterscotch Sauce for Butterscotch Bars a la mode
- ½ cup salted butter room temperature
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- For the Butterscotch Sauce for Butterscotch Bars a la mode:
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add sugar and cream and mix together well.
- Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat and boil for about 5 minutes, stirring often.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
- Serve warm over ice cream.
- To store, refrigerate sauce in an air-tight container.
